I think we’re going to start a new series here on the blog: Middle School Wednesday.
Welcome to the first installment of Middle School Wednesday!
I’m sharing some book here that my Middle School kiddo is loving! If I haven’t mentioned this before, I will now – my kids love books! My eldest is in Middle School and she loves fiction books and non-fiction books alike. If it’s written in a book, she’ll probably look forward to reading it.
Below are 5 books my Middle Shooler has been digging into the past couple of weeks (and I’ve enjoyed them too!).
1: CITIES OF THE WORLD
The subtitle of this book is: A journey through the most fascinating cities around the globe.
Which, is totally spot on!
In Cities of the World, you’ll enjoy exploring so many beautiful places throughout the 115+ photographs that will take you on an amazing trip to some amazing places. Check out some of the amazing photographs in the slider below. As you can see, there is text included so you can totally use this as a fun study guide of places around the world. It’s a great book to read over yourself then gift to your kiddo and have a fun time chatting about the amazing places!

Careers is such a sweet gem from DK Publishing. In an age of visuals and info-graphics you can explore so many carriers with ease. It’s just such a beautiful book, so well-organized, and current. I was so thankful that DK Publishing sent this to us! While we’re just about to head into 8th grade, we are exploring different career options. I think it’s important for young teenagers to start considering the options so they can explore into their interests throughout the years to come. And with Careers, they’ll answers to so many questions and discover careers they hadn’t even considered!
Let’s say your kiddo is interested in Astronomy and wants to know what it would be like to study Astronomy and pursue it as a career. Each profession lays out the job description, related careers, general overview, career paths, and skills guide!
You’ll generally find this same information for all the careers listed in the book. Take a look at the slideshow below to see some others.

4: THE SHAKESPEARE BOOK
My goodness, where was this when I was studying Shakespeare?! The Shakespeare Book: Big Ideas Simply Explained is another gem sent to us by DK Publishing. This book brings everything Shakespeare to life! You’ll find timelines, photographs from actual plays, and wonderful explanations throughout. The Shakespeare Book is easy to use, understand, and very thorough. You’ll find background on the characters, plot summaries, and overall themes. I love the summary notes on some of the page margins. Breaking the content down this way makes it easy to digest and understand.
Check out some of the other pages of the book in the slideshow below.
