7 Great Hacks for Moms of Babies and Toddlers to Try

By Cherie Gozon

Parenting can be exhausting, especially when you’re looking after a toddler. We can never match their energy — during play or when throwing tantrums — and learning some hacks for moms and dads can be very useful, no matter how simple.

Here are a few mom hacks to make life easier and help ease your parenting frustrations as you deal with your toddler daily.

7 great hacks for moms of babies and toddlers to try

Hacks for Moms: Dripless Popsicles

Kids love popsicles, but boy, are they a mess. They drip and melt all over the floor before kids can eat them, which means sticky hands and floors.

Simply push a cupcake wrapper up the stick and under the popsicle, and it will catch the drips and help make cleanup easier. You can even switch them out as your child goes through them.

Food Skewers

Toddlers can be picky eaters; even if they like a particular food, they might refuse to eat it.

Putting food on skewers makes it look new and exciting. Kids will enjoy eating it more, too. Just slide on their favorite foods, and stop arguing about what they need to eat.

Be sure to supervise your child while eating with the skewers.

They can be sharp, and your toddler could accidentally poke him or herself.

Shoe Stickers

If your little ones are just learning to put their own shoes on their feet, they probably mix them up. There’s a fun and easy way to help them.

Take a sticker of an animal, car, or anything with two different sides, cut it in half, and put half inside each shoe. If the child lines the stickers up correctly, the shoes will be on the right feet.

They will enjoy getting ready a little more with this trick, too.

Road Trip Snacks

The key to having a peaceful road trip with toddler is to bring snacks! Instead of packing 50 bags of random snacks, take a plastic tackle box or sewing box and fill each spot with a few of each snack.

It will reduce the things you have to fit in the car and keep your kids happy during the trip.

These are also great for picky eaters who constantly want something different but never eat the entire portion.

Once they are done, they can move on to the next snack and close up the container until they want more.

Cereal Necklace

Babies love cereal, and they love to chew on things.

Why not try one of the cleverest parenting hacks for babies? You can make a cereal necklace and take care of both things!

Simply use some yarn and string some cereal onto it. Tie a loose knot in it, and drop it over your baby’s neck. Your baby can quickly grab the cereal necklace, and it’s safe to eat and chew on.

This can also be one of the things to do with a toddler. They get to enjoy the process of making and eating it!

Remove Splinters

Splinters can be terrifying for kids, and the only thing worse than having a splinter is getting it pulled out. Instead of pulling them out with tweezers and listening to the kid cry and scream, try this toddler splinter hack.

Apply the baking soda to the splinter and add a couple of drops of water.

Cover it with a bandage, and the splinter will work itself out overnight. It really works, and there’s no need to worry about pain or tears.

Nonslip Slippers

If you have a toddler who loves to wear slippers, you have probably held your breath as you watched that toddler slide across the living room toward the coffee table.

Slippers are great for keeping babies warm and comfortable, but the bottoms of the feet are incredibly slippery. You can fix that with a bit of hot glue.

Simply add some dots or a random design of hot glue on the bottom of the slipper’s feet, and your little one will be able to stop and slow down a lot better.
