I’m excited to share a new, super fun resource I have been using with my Kindergartner: Junior Explorers!
Science Learning made fun
With the Junior Explores Kit, your kiddo will tap into so many intellectual skills while having a blast! We tackled counting (math), map work (geography), word search (language arts), all while learning about the new habitat (science)! From the moment we opened the kit and dove in, my Kindergartener was giggling, eager, and looking forward to learning and doing! She’s a very energetic kid and needs to feel a challenge when learning something. If it’s too easy she’ll get bored, but if it’s too hard for her to understand – she’ll get discouraged.
The Junior Explores Kit was laid it in such a way that she was able to understand the design and purpose of the activities while truly challenging her intellectual skills. She’s not a strong reader yet, so I worked through it with her to make sure she understood the instructions well. After we finished our in-hand activities and learning, we went to the online site and worked on our digital activates. Some of the information is a refresher of what we were doing with the in-hand Mission Arctic Kit, but there was also lots of new information.
She felt very scientific and explorer-like entering her special code to access the activities! The site was super easy for her to navigate and understand visually. With the online part, I had to also be present to make sure she understood the instructions, but after reading them to her she could go ahead with the mission at hand.
One thing though that I wish they would have is a voice over/ audio reading the instructions to the younger explorers who have yet to master their reading skills. I did, however, love that they included real photos of Arctic. I wasn’t expecting that and both my daughter and I were amazed at how beautiful they were.
What is Junior Explorers?
The Junior Explorers Kit is an educational science learning subscription box for elementary age kids. It is digital educational fun and tactile educational fun. Their mission is to connect the kids to the planet by teaching them about wildlife and nature!
Each month your Junior Explorer will go on wild adventures around the planet! They’ll explore new ecosystems and solve mysteries in nature alongside characters Kia and Kyle. Your kiddo is going to learn about interesting habitats such as the Arctic, the Amazon, and the Serengeti through mission kits they will receive each month.
In each kit, they’ll find fact sheets, cool collectibles, and fun activities! Once they finish their hands on activities they’ll take the fun online to explore and learn more! At the end of the mission, they’ll receive points, and then have the opportunity to give back with Mission Giveback.
Mission Giveback turns those earned points into dollars and your child is able to choose which non-for-profit they want to donate back to in support of conservation! I loved this feature and it is teaching your child to be a philanthropist, and inspires them to do well and give back! The program is for kids ages 6-11.
What comes in the kit?
In the Mission Arctic Kit you’ll find several items:
- Mini Animal Collectables
- Post Cards (super fun to us to send to family and friends)
- Information cards about the Key Animals covered in the mission kit
- Activity Book
- A Mission Checklist
- A letter from the Mission Center stating the mission at hand!
- A Pin
- A wristband
