Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not. ~ Epicurus
I’m a quotes girl. Love them. They’re quick snippets of packed goodness.
We all struggle with contentment, don’t we?
Why is that?
Because we always want more than what we have. We always look to what others have.
Dreamers. That’s who we are. And we want every dream to become a reality.
We look at tomorrow as a bright big opportunity when today is right here!
This moment, now, is where we can DO.
24hrs translates to 1,440 minutes. You have this daily. You sleep 8hrs (on a good night). Work another 8. If you work away from home your drive is probably 30min to an hour, one way. So total an hour or two in commute. That’s 18 hours out of your day (assuming commute is on the high-end) that you have already dedicated to something that wont change. That leaves you with 6 hours.
Six glorious hours. Five days a week. On weekends, you have a full 16 hours in the day (assuming you don’t work weekends). That’s 62hrs in a week that you can do anything with.
Enjoy them. Cherish what you have in the present and quit trying to get tomorrow here before its time.
Relish in the time you have with your kids, curl up and watch a movie with your love. Get out back with your dog and throw the frisbee around. Get outside and garden with your daughter. Teach your son to trow a ball. Bake some cookies for your neighbor, just because.
Life is fleeting friends. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. I the blink of an eye things could change. Don’t waste your today’s by trying to get tomorrow here before its time.
