Hey Everyone! Today is Day 4 of 5 Days Of Dollar Store Crafts as part of the 5 day series at iHomeschool Network!!
Today we are making Jewelry Boxes out of crafters sticks! (or as my 4-year-old calls them: jew-ur-wee baxes)
Materials:
- Crafter sticks (bought at the dollar store)
- Glue
The Details:
This was really simple, and really fun to make. I loved seeing all the colors!! It’s really appealing and ads such a nice pop of color wherever they are put.
First we made the base. We laid out about nine sticks, making sure that it would overlap the next layer (laid in the opposite direction).
Once our first two layers were complete we then started to frame the outer rim, like a box. We glued two sticks opposite each other, and then did the same for the other sides and kept up with it until the boxes reached the height we wanted.
Once they were done, my four-year old insisted that they needed a top. After all ~ what’s a “jew-ur-wee bax” without a top, eh? :)
So we lined up nine sticks and then on top, in the opposite direction, we lined up six to keep them bound together, plus it added a little more of a decorative touch.
See you tomorrow, for another Dollar Store Craft!!!
