Hey Everyone! Today is Day 2 of 5 Days Of Dollar Store Crafts as part of the 5 day series at iHomeschool Network!!
Today we are making puppets out of foam sheets!
Materials Needed:
- Assorted colors of foam sheets, I picked up glittery and non glittery ones at the dollar store
- Glue
- Crafter Sticks (I just used some from the many left from yesterday)
For our cat I drew a shape that falls somewhere in-between a circle and an oval. I then traced out ears (basically two triangles). Once I liked the shape I cut it out and used it as my template. Because we are making these into puppets, we needed a back and a front. For this one we choose to use the same colors for each side.
Glue them together and place the crafter stick in between the two sides.
We cut out small triangles and placed them on the ears, and used an even smaller one for the nose. For the eyes we just cut out tiny circles (as best we could).
Then we drew the mouth with glitter glue and added even MORE glitter on top (just to make it even more fun!)
The kids decorated them as they choose and here is what we ended up with. Cute, huh?
Now, for our piggies!!! We’ll be using the same concept as we did for the cat. Cut out two circles this time. We used the glitter foam sheets for the front and the solid sheets for the back.
Then, glue them together making sure to add in the crafter stick so it can be used as a little puppet.
Cut out ears and glue them in-between the two pieces. You may want to wait until this part to glue the front and back together. I just gently pealed that edge apart and pushed the ear in.
We added a heart-shaped nose, with nostrils made with our hole punch. If you don’t have a single hole punch, don’t worry – neither do I! I used our three hole punch :)
We cut out eyes and glued them on, and then we made a bow…because a piggy needs to have a bow, right? To make the bow we just traced out two triangles, tips facing and overlapping each other, and cut it out…kind of rounding out the edges just a tad. We then cut out a circle and glued it in the middle.
See you tomorrow, for another Dollar Store Craft!!!
