I received this app for free in exchange for my honest opinion. I was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed are my own.
I’m thoroughly enjoying these Middle School Years. We’ve been exploring several supplemental programs and apps throughout this year, and today I’m sharing a recent one we’ve been enjoying: DragonBox Algebra 12+.
Supplementing Math can be fun
I’m big on folding supplemental material into our lessons, but as classes become more difficult I find it hard to find supplemental material that is fun and educational. I look for things that my kiddo can apply learned skills, maybe learn some new ones, as well as learn to see the learned material in a new light. It’s not just all about the fun, but it’s not just all about the knowledge either.
Switching things up with supplemental material offers my kiddo a new and fresh perspective. Supplemental material creates new environments in which my kiddo can test out her skills. It’s like a unique test of what she’s learning and a great way for her also apply what she’s learning.
Diversifying practice is essential to mastery. Math is a subject which needs to be mastered level by level, and by using supplements (in addition to our core math curriculum), I’m able to see in a new setting what is sticking and what needs to be worked on.
Fun with Algebra App Game
As a mom who wants to use fun and engaging supplemental apps and programs in our homeschool, DragonBox Algebra 12+ app a is a perfect fit. It’s fun, colorful, and provokes my kiddo to really think and apply skills.
It’s so awesome to see companies releasing such amazing applications that are truly educational. Let’s be honest, a few years back you couldn’t really find an app for Middle School Algebra. Granted, it’s not meant to be a full-on curriculum, but it is a wonderful supplement!
About DragonBox Algebra 12+
The goal of DragonBox Algebra 12+ is to get “the dragon box” (representing ´x´) alone on one side of the game board. Throughout the chapters, rules and strategies for solving each level are introduced one at a time. So even if your kiddo is new to the concept and new to using an app for something like this, they’ll be able to grasp things and move forward.

We Want to Know offers some wonderful FREE resources on their site for you to dig in deeper to what they offer. You can find what rules are found in each level, a teacher’s manual, a homeschool manual, worksheets, and more!
