It has been SO fun getting our school area set up this year! It was slow to come together, but I’m so glad it’s all finished :). We don’t really have a room that we could dedicate to only school stuff. We have one of those Living Room/Dining Room/Family Room mashed together kind of spaces.
This is our main area/wall:
This is in that area. While I would LOVE to have a school room in our home, it’s just not an option now. And we like to do school anywhere we can, so the living room was a perfect fit. We can read on the couch, work at the table (above) or at our dining table (not photographed). Whatever works that day for us is what we’ll do. My oldest also has a desk in her room where she does a lot of her school work too.
If you are interested in the items above:
- Dr Seuss Poster set of 5
- Books of the Bible Poster
- Months header for the calendar
- Cork Board (but I got mine at Target, they had it on sale for under $8.99)
- Weather Charts (on cork board next to calendar)
- Owls and Tree ( tree is pictured below)
- Prepositions and Personal Pronouns mini posters
We got these cute pencil holders in the dollar section at Target. They fit our colored pencils, rulers, pencils, and markers perfectly.
These clear plastic containers are the perfect holders for our miscellaneous items that don’t have a designated home yet.
Because we are a bilingual family, we have our months displayed in both languages. I made these myself since I couldn’t find any I really liked online or in-store.
I also made some for the days of the week in both languages. The picture below is the wall right across from the main school wall. I just used the space as best I could :) . We will still be going through World History/Geography, but I wanted to have a map of the US up too for reference.
I found this cute little tree at Staples months ago, it came with the owls. I plan on using it for our apples as we complete each of our characters studies (mentioned in my curriculum post).
