Having grown up speaking two languages from birth (Spanish and English), learning languages has never been something I’ve feared. It’s simply been natural to learn multiple languages. In High School I took a conversational French class which started my journey to learn a third language.
My kids think it’s so cool to be able to communicate with their family with a language other than English. And like me, they’ve grown up speaking both Spanish and English. I’ll admit – raising my kids here in the states has made it a tab bit more difficult to keep the Spanish going, but that challenge makes it all the more rewarding to keep it up. Plus, it’s a fun way to connect my kids with my roots.
Earlier this year my oldest told me she wanted to learn another language. We discussed French (because of my background in it) and Italian, finally deciding that we’d tackle Italian first. My kiddo couldn’t wait to get at it!
Mango Languages Makes Learning A New Language Easy!
With Mango Languages getting started and moving forward was easy and quick! The program teaches language in conversational mode. You hear the dialog, and are able to repeat it back.
Each lesson is guided by audio which reads the text on each slide.
A great feature I loved is the ability to turn on a microphone, and the program catches what you say and lets you know if you’re pronouncing the words the right way. They call it voice comparison. Most language programs don’t offer this kind of feedback. And if you don’t have a teacher right in front of you (who speaks that language), it’s very difficult to ensure proper pronunciation.
Mango Languages teaches using a conversational method, which is the most natural way to learn any language. Here you can see the conversation between two people. I thought it was pretty cool that they have the conversation in English first, then as they are about to begin reading each line to you, they switch it to the language you are learning. In our case – Italian.
Language is taught naturally, and therefore makes it super easy and fun to learn! Afterall, this is exactly how we learn to speak as children. We hear dialog and we mimic it based on what we understand it to mean.
