One of the main resources I’m using for Kindergarten this year is the Rod and Staff Kindergarten curriculum: ABC Series + GHIJK. I’m so thankful Milestone Books sent us this pack! I wish I would have considered it last year when we did Preschool – it would’ve saved me so much time and spared me many headaches!
This year my goal was to simplify our curriculum and hone in on resources that worked well for our family and the kids learning styles.
Last year when my now 5yr old was in Preschool, we danced around with lots of different curriculum. While we didn’t hate any of it, most of it just didn’t work for us and often caused a lot of stress. Most of the resources were way too time consuming to get set up – they were all digital products that had to be printed out, laminated, cut out, ect. And then the teaching/school work began.
It’s what I call busy work.
Because I homeschool more than one child, I knew I needed to find a way to cut out the excess busy work.
What’s in the Kindergarten 4-5 Series
The Pack I received comes with 12 books
- 10 Workbooks
- 1 Bible Stories Book
- 1 Bible Coloring Pages Book to go with the Bible Stories Book
With the first six books (A-F) your Kindergartner will be doing lots of coloring practice, cutting practice, pasting practice, and learning to follow directions while practicing neatness with their work.
Book B (the storybook) helps begin (or continue) auditory and oral practice for your kiddo while they color the corresponding page in their coloring book.
The next five workbooks (G-K) are new books to the series. Each book is themed based on specific geographic regions. I love this!
What I love about ABC Series + GHIJK
The focus on not just learning “text book” material, but also learning to work neatly and carefully while learning the lesson. In these early years (Preschool and Kindergarten) this is something that could easily get set aside by parents. But if we begin teaching them to follow directions and to carefully do their work now – they’ll take this and build upon it as they work their way through following grades.
It’s up to me and the price is right
While this is technically a boxed curriculum, the pace of work is totally left up to the parents. This curriculum pack (for all that it includes), is very affordable! Doing the math, I spent way more than that just printing (ink, paper, and specialty paper) the digital curriculum we purchase last year for Preschool. Not to mention the time I spent putting it all together and preparing it for the actual lessons. With the Rod and Staff ABC Series + GHIJK , you’ll have all you need at an affordable price. All you need to pick up is crayons, scissors, pencils, and glue.
Milestone Books has been generous enough to offer one of my readers the same pack they sent to me: ABC Series + GHIJK. Feel free to check it out HERE for more information. You can click on each book to get a bit more info too.
