Every year around this time our family likes to get crafty and creative! This year we’ve tried out a few new crafts that I’ve had in our “craft -queue”. Today, I’m sharing our Glitter Canvas craft! Every day this week I’ll be sharing a new homemade Christmas craft with you!
This is an incredible simple and easy craft to put together. Don’t let the idea of creating a silhouette intimidate you! You can make anything you want! The glitter can get a bit messy, but just try your best to contain it and enjoy the fun time with your kiddos. Glitter mess is stressful for me at times, but my kids love it so I just go with it for them.
- Canvas (11 x 14)
- Glitter (we use green, burgundy, and silver)
- Pencil (to trace the outline of the design)
The process is simple:
First // Trace the silhouette of your design. We free-handed our designs. But if you google “deer head silhouette” or “stocking silhouette” you will find images that you can print and then trace on your canvas.
Second // Trace the outline of your silhouette with glue, then fill it in with glue. Just squiggle it around and grab a paint brush to evenly distribute it.
Third // Sprinkle a generous amount of glitter over the glue. Don’t touch it, just let it settle there for about 30 min.
Fourth // Then slightly angle the canvas (the glue probably isn’t dry yet so don’t stand it up too long or it will drip), and tap the side so most of the excess glitter comes off.
Fifth // Once dry, you’ll have a beautiful and original work of art that your family will enjoy for years to come!
That’s it! :) Here’s our final results!
